Today’s “Almost Live News” With Adam Carolla

Not retaining information so well; retaining water very well.

Not retaining information so well; retaining water very well.

On Today’s “Almost Live News Podcast,” Adam discusses DJ AM, the latest Duggars offspring, the fires, and shares some sentimental musings about the birth of his twins three years ago. And by musings, I mean rantings.

I love your blog!! So funny and touching!!

I was wondering if you would be willing to share that link you mentioned on the podcast regarding the interview with Dr. Drew?

Thanks for being so open on your blog, I love it!

    • Here goes:
The entire interview is compelling, but they get into specifics about crack & addiction around and hour and twelve minutes into it: http://bit.ly/6TDzX.

Oh, thank you so much. I was searching all over last night and couldn’t find it…I have a few people in my family that suffer with addictions and was really interested in hearing it – thanks again for this and for all that you bring to make our days more full! :-)

After your discussion of the pink-and-blue baby beanies, I thought you might find this amusing. The writer for the webcomic Penny Arcade just had a daughter, and (in the bottom post), he links to a picture of the newborn, wearing the dreaded unisex beanie:

I was not thrilled with your TALK on the last pod cast. Please keep the ******* words off YOUR list. You are a mom first and an pod cast person last. Don’t complain so much. First of all I must say I recall how you complained about Kathy Lee and Regis. Kathy always talking about her kids. Well she is a great and wonderful mother, something I am sure you will have a hard time being. You must be SELFLESS and give up many things to be a great mom. Work hard at it, take your time at it and don’t give up. This will be the hardest job you have ever had, if you do it right that is. Anyway watch the mouth and remember that you will soon be a MOM. Mom’s don’t talk like men. You don’t have to try so hard to fit in. Don’t be so desperate for this job!!!! Come on you certainly must know you can do much better. This is not for you. It is for the MEN.

Wow Bernice. Can you hear me back there in 1951? How do you have access to a computer? Is this some sort of Frequency situation (bad movie reference)… Seriously, if you are so uptight that a few “bad” words can make you this uncomfortable that you need to come and berate a pregnant lady for her career, then you obviously are way too uptight. With the utmost respect, if you don’t like the podcast, then click next on iTunes. Teresa, don’t change a thing. I think the real fans of this site and of the podcast know that you aren’t trying to fit in, you’re just a funny and talented person, not a relic from the Victorian Era who has to know her place. You will be a great mom, mostly because you care so much about doing the right thing. Bernice, my only advice for you would be to watch out this guy named Nikita Khrushchev. I know that in your time period, Georgy Malenkov or Nikolay Bulganin is probably running the USSR, but Khrushchev and some days in October that you’ll have to look forward to in a few years will be pretty scary…

Seriously? Mama can’t be selfless if she drops an occassional f-bomb? Seriously? I’m not pregnant and not planning to be anytime soon but I check out Teresa Strasser’s blog because of how much I enjoyed listening to her on the Adam Carolla Radio Show (and now the podcast). I doubt half of the content discussed on either medium would make your mommy-approved talking points. But the point is that she is bringing in a completely different audience than just some run of the mill pregnancy blog that drones on about how wonderful everything is. She shares her journey through pregnancy and manages to make it funny, interesting and enlightening to people who would not otherwise give a flying f***. (I rarely swear but now I feel the compulsion just to spite your comment). I may not agree with her politics or always like her point-of-view but I love the fact that she acts like a real human being and doesn’t try to become something else just to score points. If she swears in the course of everyday life, I would expect her to swear during a podcast. I think you need to take a step back and get a little perspective. Do you honestly think there is a direct correlation between swearing on a podcast and being a good mother? Relax.

LOVE the “almost live” news podcasts and hope it turns into a regular event!

    Hey T,

Just wanted to tell you that I found you via Simmons to Carolla. I was a big Sports Guy fan, but living on the east coast, I’d never listened to Adam’s radio show. When he started his podcast, I started right from the beginning because of him pitching it on Simmons’ podcast, and I’ve heard every episode. You’re fantastic on there!

Two things I wanted to mention. First, can we ever get some news from Maine? There is all kinds of crazy stuff that goes on there! We had a topless coffee shop in rural maine that someone burned down, and now they serve in tents… Come on, thats gotta go on the news… Anyway, I love the show, I listen to it when I’m home in New England and now where I work teaching in Kansas City.

The second thing I wanted to tell you was that you do such a great job that I keep coming back to this website. You’d think as a 24 year old guy, this probably wouldn’t be a site I check out, but I think you’ve done a really cool thing here. I wanted to recommend on of my favorite songs about a new child to you, maybe this could be your “ride home from the hospital song.” It is called “When you dream” by the barenaked ladies, and its basically just the singer and an acoustic guitar. Its very pretty, he is wondering what his newborn son dreams about when he sleeps. Its just a really beautiful song, and even though I’m not a parent, I think this song just really is touching. Anyway, good luck with everything!

Hang in there T. Labour sucks but you forget so quickly. Nature’s way of ensuring reproduction? Also, I so dug the Hule Howser(sp?) banter between you and Adam the other day-hilarious!

  8. step says:

    I second this.

  9. Dan Hungarian says:

    Dear T,

Please do us all a favor and deliver that human that grows inside you, leave him with Batman and make yourself and the news a daily occurrence on Adam’s podcast. I would like to speak for the majority of the listening audience when I say that we enjoy his podcasts the most when you are on. The interpersonal dynamic and humor between the two of you makes for a truly unique experience and we hope it continues for a long time.

Although we will be more than happy for you once your baby is born, we know that it will be a period of your absence from the podcast and thus a period of sadness as we eagerly await your return.

Best of luck with everything, keep up the great work!!!

    Dan

    Hola T,
Great job. Better still … you cause the knuckle-dragging minority on ACE’s blog to spin on their heads around on their stalks and puke pea-soup. It’s quite hilarious actually ! I never realized there were SOOO many people who desperately need to get a life, buy some perspective, get a spell-checker, and learn how to make a point without embarassing themselves with a pathetic potty-mouth. If I had any question that our public school system had collapsed in utter failure, their responses would be proof enough. Tick-tock… tick-tock almost at the end of the baby clock.
